You may hear “one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind”(original recorded voice). On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins started their journey into space in a Saturn V rocket and into history. On 20 July 1969 Armstrong became the first person to step onto the lunar surface.

The Apoppo 11 mission was launched by a Saturn V rocket from Kennedy Space Center, Florida on July 16. The spacecraft has three modules, a command module, a service module, and a lunar module. Armstrong and Aldrin landed in the Sea of Tranquility in Moon on July 20 and they returned to Earth and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on July 24 after more than eight days in space.

Apollo Moon missions were equipped with a Swedish-made Hasselblad camera. You can view the Apollo Moon mission photos on the Flickr projectapollo archive.
